OPEN was founded in 2017 by Jacquis Tolsma to offer property owners easy-to-use smart access control to their properties by maximising technology.  Our founding principle remains: helping people to forget their keys.

OPEN’s range of innovative products are designed with the end-user in mind: striving to enable seamless access management to properties, whilst saving you one of the most important things that money can’t buy – your time.

Using Internet of Things (IoT) Technology, OPEN works with any device to make access easy and convenient. And what is more, now you can afford to forget your keys and remotes!

Our People


Founder & CEO

Jacquis is an innovator and business strategist who aims to make a large-scale impact in the world through creative, disruptive and customer-focused technology and services. His innovation knows no end and he loves to see customers find value in a product.

He has a master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Pretoria and have completed a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. As a landscape architect, Jacquis learnt to design with people in mind, while merging an array of constraints into a coherent whole.  Practicing in the Middle-East has honed his contract and project management skills.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, surrounded by nature. As a triathlon enthusiast, he cherishes a long-term goal of completing an ironman on every continent.


Country Manager: South Africa

Warren is a business developer and finds his greatest motivation in carrying companies through rapid and continuous growth by means of his entrepreneurial instincts and clarity of vision.

Warren has over 16 years’ experience in financial and IT management, business development, sales management and senior-level Executive positions. Through his experience working for public multi- national companies across various industries he has build a sound and thorough understanding of business visioning, establishment, consolidation and expansion.

Warren holds a B.Comm degree (Stellenbosch), B.Comm (Hons) Cost Acc (UCT) and completed a Master of Business Administration from the University of Stellenbosch Business School.

If not at work, you will most likely find Warren spending time with his family and friends.


Chief Development Officer

Andre has a great passion for technology and the impact it can have on the world. With more than a decade of experience in software development in multiple technologies and embedded systems, Andre’s invaluable insight and dedication enables OPEN to achieve technological excellence and competitive advantage.

Andre believes that the bigger picture must be kept in mind in software development and therefore brings robust architecture for pipeline products and scaling – all the while, striving to write the perfect code.

Andre has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, with a major in Computer Engineering from the University of Pretoria.

Andre enjoys providing insight, wisdom and strategic direction to companies, while managing a team of talented developers through his software development company Yobi Code.
